Impact of COMPOS

In just a few years, COMPOS has helped more than 1,000 secondary school students improve their maths and physics understanding.

Improving STEM

COMPOS strives to increase the number of students from under-represented communities in STEM. We have a target of at least 30% of students in the programme to be female or non-binary and 40% to live in under-resourced areas of the UK or have received some form of financial support through the pupil premium, free school meals or an educational maintenance allowance.

Across the first five years of the programme, COMPOS has made improvements in reaching those targets and we remain committed to them.

Across the UK

COMPOS aims to improve physics and maths education across the UK. This map shows the school location of students in our programme, demonstrating how our reach has expanded from 2021 to 2025.

In addition to students from across the UK, our tutors also come from different universities. Between 2021 and 2025, COMPOS has had 173 tutors from 15 universities. While over half have been from the University of Oxford (91), tutors have also attended the University of Bristol (20), Imperial College London (19), University of Birmingham (10) and the University of Cambridge (6), to name a few.
